I'm arranging with my host to have an oscommerce site setup on a secure part of their server.

But, before using oscommerce, I need to know if its possible for it to hold credit card details?

i.e. a customer places an order, the details are held on file(database), then I can check the database, retrieve the credit card details and manually enter the details into a card machine.

Is this possible?

Yes it is , just use the standard Credit Card payment option and the order will contain the CC number which can be viewed through the Orders bit of the Admin module.
