Hi,
I've just tried do do an install of osCommerce 2.2 MS2 using Fantastico. At the last step it displays messages about files it has configured and then the last 2 lines are as follows :
/home/pure-nat/public_html/shop/data.sql configured
ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: 'purenat_osc1@localhost' (Using password: YES)
I haven't a clue what error 1045 is or what has caused this. When I try to access the admin area is gives the following error (not unexpectedly) :
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'purenat_osc1@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/pure-nat/public_html/shop/admin/includes/functions/database.php on line 19
Unable to connect to database server!
Has anyone got any idea what error 1045 is, what is causing this, and what I need to do to fix it ?
I'd love to get started working on setting up my shop but I can't get anywhere if I can't even get the software installed !
thanks
Chris

Well, I ended up solving this one for myself. I figured I might as well document it here as it is such an easy mistake to make I'd be amazed if someone else doesn't hit the same problem.
It appears that mySQL does not like dashes in a username. My username for the account was 'pure-nat'. I deleted the account and recreated it as 'purenat', re-ran the osCommerce install and everything worked fine.
I hope this helps someone as I've wasted a whole day trying to solve it.
